About The Club

The most dangerous time of day for young children are the afternoon hours when their school day ends and before a parent comes home from work. The Club at Collington Square is a safe afterschool and summer enrichment program managed by the Episcopal Community Services of Maryland.

Club Kids are kindergarten-4th grade students enrolled at Collington Square Elementary School. The program delivers academic support, STEM education, arts programming and other enrichment activities not provided during a typical school day.

Club Kids receive healthy snacks and meals, as well as nutrition counseling through the program. The Club also hosts community cooking classes to help children and families prepare healthy meals at home.

Schedule of Activities

During the school year, Club staff picks registered children up from their classrooms at the end of the school day for afternoon snacks and playground time at Collington Square Elementary. The group then walks to The Club building, located at 2110 Mura St., for learning activities. An evening meal is served to children and their families at the end of the day.

Club Kids are assigned to their group by age and grade. Enrichment activities for each group are based on the learning skills and knowledge standards set forth in the school curriculum.

Club staff works directly with school administrators and teachers to review grade-level reading and math objectives and share students’ academic progress. Regular parent conferences with Club staff and children are also vital to evaluating students’ progress.

Summer at The Club focuses on reducing students’ learning loss, while enjoying traditional summer fun activities like swimming, nature hikes, and field trips.
